cash or check and all fees should be turned in by the
Registration Deadlines to the Town Administrators Office.

Summer
Sesson II
Conducted by Sagittarian Archery School, this program is for
ages 8 and older. Adults may participate with their child,
families are encouraged!! All equipment is provided and no
experience is necessary. Intermediate level must have taken
at least one beginners class with Sagittarian Archery School
or receive a waiver from the instructor. Columbia Recreation
will be offering a Spring Session and two
Summer Sessions. Class space is limited.

 
Hand
Build Pottery Classes - Look For Upcoming September Classes!
Get your mind
centered and your hands dirty! This hand building potter
class will introduce you to clay and allow you to create
hand built pieces. We will do a coil pot, slab pieces such
as trays, mirror frame and wind-chimes to name a few. You
will leave with several pieces; the only limitation is your
creativity. The first 3 classes will be working classes and
the last will be glazing the bisque fired pieces. For more

Summerscape
is a privately run program that will be
utilizing Rec Park again this year:
The
Summerscape 2008 Camp year will run from June
23rd to August 15th, four 2 week sessions. For
ages Pre-K-8th grade. In addition to our regular
day camp program or sports, recreation, swim,
boating, specialty workshops, themed weeks and
two field trips a week, we will be offering new
for 2008~ Adventure
camp-A field trip
every day for 5th-8th graders.
Lego camp
every morning the week of June 30th-July

Men's
& Women's Open Gym Basketball
Now through
April 2008 from 7:00 - 9:00 PM at the Horace W. Porter
gymnasium, 3 Schoolhouse Road, Columbia. Ages 18 and
up. Come join us form some exercise and adult
interaction! $ 20 / Residents, $30 / Non-Residents and
$3 / night for walk-ins. All fee's will be collected
at the gym.

physical postures, poses and breathing that relaxes, calms
the mind and brings greater awareness to your life.

pillow, bare feet, comfortable clothing, small blanket or
sweatshirt / pants (for meditation). For more

Combination
Safe Boating / Personal Watercraft (Jet Ski) Course

A complete basic safe boating
certification course taught in one (8 hour) day. Successful
completion will allow the student to obtain a Connecticut
Certificate of Personal Watercraft Operation, which enables
them to operate recreational vessels up to 65 feet in length
including Jet Skis. This course is approved by NASBLA, and
recognized by the US Coast Guard. An easy to understand
classroom format is designed for students age 10 and over.
Our state certified instructors have many years of teaching
and personal boating experience and are ready to make your
learning experience both fun and easy! Topics include:
choosing the right boat, equipment requirements, state
boating laws, safety regulations, navigation rules, buoy
systems, trailering, safe fueling, weather, accident
prevention, special topics and much more. All students
receive an official diploma and state certificate
application upon successful completion of the course.

care and handling. They will also be taught a variety of
different horse related subjects. At the end of each day the
students will have some time to spend with their favorite
horse until they are picked up. Space is limited and we will
book on a first come, first serve basis so call early to
ensure your child is included in the fun! Children should
bring drinks and snacks All participants must have the
proper riding equipment: ASTM helmet (helmets can be
provided), shoes with a heel (no sneakers) and long pants,
comfortable clothes can be brought to change into.

has been the Head Baseball Coach at ECSU for the past 40

Beginner Lacrosse players
will have great fun learning this exhilarating game. The US
Sports Institute lacrosse program is ideal for entry level
players with no previous experience. Players can experience,
Stick Handling, Passing, Scooping, Dodging and shooting as
well as many other fundamental Techniques. Players will be
grouped by age, playing ability and experience level. No
previous experience playing lacrosse is required to attend
the clinic.

Experience over 15 different sports from around the world
with the US Sports Institute. All activities will take place
in an atmosphere which promotes good sportsmanship teamwork
and most of all fun. Campers will receive Technical
Instruction in each sport then experience the sport in a
realistic game situation. Campers will receive a t-shirt and
certificate. This is the only summer camp truly dedicated to
the sports minded youngster.
