Archery Only Hunting on the Szegda Farm Open Space Property

Issuing a Permit: Permits are issued by lottery on April 1st, then on a first come, first serve basis.

Only one property and one type of hunting permit is issued per person.  A second permit may be obtained only if the particular hunting season has begun and there are still empty spots.

All applicants must complete a Private Land Consent Form found in the State of Connecticut Hunting and Trapping Guide or only at https://portal.ct.gov/-/media/DEEP/hunting_trapping/forms_applications/consentpdf.pdf.

A completed Private Land Consent Form and a copy of the applicant’s Conservation License (Hunting License) must be submitted to the Town Administrator’s office for approval. Mark Walter, Town Administrator 860-228-0110, or  townadministrator@columbiact.org.

The Town Administrator or First Selectman must review the Private Land Consent Forms and authorize the permits as the Landowner for hunting on all Town property.

If approval is granted the applicants receive an approved Private Land Consent Form and a map of the specific property they will be hunting on.

The applicants must apply for new permits for each property, each year.
