About Columbia
Columbia is a bedroom community of approximately 21 square miles. On the outskirts of Tolland County, the Town is about a 25 minute drive from Hartford. According to the 2010 census, Columbia has a population of 5,492 and a total of 2,157 households. In 2008, the median age was 43 and the median household income was $ 85,255. More than 96% of the homes in Columbia are single family dwellings. As stated in its 2006 Plan of Conservation and Development, the Town's goal is to guide and manage growth in a way that will preserve its natural resources and retain its rural character.
